Giants Didn't Win The Super Bowl, The Patriots Lost It
64Brady & Patriots Come Up Just Short
It's taken me a couple of days to really grasp the fact that the New England Patriots didn't win the Super Bowl and I keep repeating that over and over in my head. They didn't win. Then it dawned on me. The Patriots lost the Super Bowl rather the New York Giants won the Super Bowl. Now I know what some of you are thinking, that I'm a biased Pats fan, but I'm not a fan of any team from Boston. (Go Yanks!)
That being said, I am a huge Tom Brady supporter. I do believe that he is the best quarterback ever. I know Joe Montana has a solid argument, he is 4-0 in Super Bowls after all, but he had Jerry Rice to throw the ball too and a great defense to support him.
Looking back on Brady's first three Super Bowls, he had solid defenses and in his two Super Bowl losses, the defenses were very sub-par. The 2011 defense had one of the worst secondaries in NFL history. This defense was rated 31st, that's out of 32 team for some of you that don't know.
Getting back to the Super Bowl. I've heard Brady get pretty much all of the blame, but how can that be. Yes, the safety to being the game was questionable, but that seemed to be a reach by the officials. That could have gone either way. Then there's the interception that Rob Gronkowski clearly wasn't capable of catching given the fact that he had a high ankle sprain. If he's healthy, he would have at least been able to play some defense and knock the ball away from the Giants defender.
Then there's the Wes Welker drop. I'm not going to side with any of the analysts on this one, that was a good ball thrown by Brady and Welker got two hands on meaning he needed to catch it. I mean for all of the bad press about Brady not having a good game, did we forget that he set a Super Bowl record with 16 consecutive completions.
That drop by Welker would have sealed the game, which is exactly why I truly believe the Pats lost this game. It's clear as day, but I don't want to take anything away from the Giants. Eli Manning, you are one of the elite quarterback's in this league and you may just be entering your prime.
The Giants defense played great, especially the front seven led by Justin Tuck who accounted for two sacks.
Honestly, who wouldn't want to see these two teams play every year in the Super Bowl. They put on a great show every time they play each other. Hopefully next time they play, a little luck will fall in New England's favor instead of New York's.
Brady's toughest loss
There is a great article on Yahoo! Sports talking about how hard Brady took this game. It may just have been his worst loss to date. It's sad to see a modern day hero sulking in defeat, but the truth of the matter is that without him, this team wouldn't have experienced the success they did this season. Before Boston fans pass all the blame onto him, maybe they should re-evaluate their stance and remember all the things they should thank him for.

I too read that article on the seconds that turned into Bradys minutes in the locker room after the stunning loss, I cried when I read it actually. Never felt so bad for anyone I so desperately rooted against for so long ( I bleed Jets green as deep as I bleed blue) I think it was reading about how compassionate Kraft was to his QB. I have often heard that the Patriots owner is quite the man and reading that article confirmed it.
As for who to blame, you got to blame the whole team. Go study some physics and you will understand that the drop by Welker was by no means a perfect throw. Gronk hurt . .I could go on and on. The fact is the Pats sure did lose this game but please do not even try to take one iota away from this fantastic WIN by the New York Giants.
Bottom line is that this NYG win just shows that when a team is #ALLin and they truly bELIeve in one another, great feats happen. They just wanted it more. And baby they got it!
Oh and by the way, Welcome to Hubpages ;)
It was about time that someone finally put the patriots in their place anyway! Great hub, voted up and interesting! Hope you enjoy my hubs as well!
It just came down to two plays in my opinion. Welker didn't make the catch and Manningham did. The Giants did win but when it comes to consistent excellence, the Patriots are superior. I think New England will be back in the big dance soon.
